National Disability Awards

The National Disability Awards are part of the Australian Government’s celebration of International Day of People with Disability.

The 2010 Award categories are:  

  • Minister's Lifelong Achievement Award - This Award is for people over 25 years of age who have advanced the rights of people with disability.
  • Young Disability Challenge Award - This Award is for young people aged 12-25 years who have advanced the rights of people with disability.

  • Business Award
    - The *Business Award* will be awarded to businesses that have improved opportunities for people with disability such as greater inclusion, participation or employment. - Large Business focus on Small Business focus (Privately owned and operated with fewer than 15 employees)
  • Local Government Award - This Award is for local government authorities who have succeeded in implementing substantial changes to improve physical, social, economic and cultural access and inclusion for people with disability and their families.
  • Social Inclusion Award - These Awards are for schools and community groups who have actively built in inclusion and full participation of people with disability alongside other students or members of community groups. - School focus - Community group focus.
  • Accessible Housing Award - This Award is for property developers, builders and others in the building sector that have developed innovative and accessible private dwellings for people with disability.
